Convergence and Design for Disassembly (DfD) as Environmentally sustainable design (ESD) strategy

Design for disassembly attempts come with consequences that must be understood within a wider picture of its environmental impact, especially the global environment. Whilst design for future reuse will have obvious environmental benefits, there are also potential environmental costs; and regardless of its assumed smaller impact, they must be recognised and considered (Every impact counts). Managing this process requires a model that allows a place and a role of design for disassembly and technology convergence within the overall picture of environmentally sustainable design.
